Jonathon S. Jacobson is currently the Assistant Head Coach of and Senior Advisor to UNC Charlotte Football and the non-executive Chairman of HighSage Ventures, a private investment firm formed in 2019 to exclusively manage his family’s assets and those of the One8 Foundation.
Mr. Jacobson was the Co-Founder, Chief Investment Officer and Chief Executive Officer of Highfields Capital Management from 1998 until 2021, when it returned all remaining capital to investors. Prior to founding Highfields, he was a senior portfolio manager at Harvard Management Company.
Mr. Jacobson is currently a director of PennyMac Financial Services and serves on the Lone Pine Capital Advisory Board and the Novo Capital Investors International Advisory Committee. He and his wife Joanna are co-trustees of the One8 Foundation. He is a Lifetime Trustee of the Gilman School in Baltimore, Maryland, where he also still serves on the Investment Committee.
Mr. Jacobson is a former director of iHeartMedia and iHeartCommunications. He is a past Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Brandeis University and formerly chaired the International Board of Trustees of Israel’s Institute for National Security Studies. He also formerly served on the Investment Committee of the Weizmann Global Endowment Management Trust and the Board of Dean’s Advisors at Harvard Business School.
Mr. Jacobson received an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.S. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania. He and Joanna reside primarily in Boston and have three adult children.
